Peringatan Hari Kesiapsiagaan Bencana Nasional 2025 di DIY: Membangun Budaya “Siap untuk Selamat”

20 June 2025

The highlight of the 2025 National Disaster Preparedness Day (HKBN) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) will be held on 30 April 2025 at the Main Building of Ahmad Dahlan University, Campus 4, Banguntapan. With the theme "Ready to Survive: Digdaya Ngadepi Bancono", this event aims to increase public awareness, alertness, and preparedness in facing various potential disaster threats. As a region located in a zone prone to earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, and various other risks, the Province of DIY requires collaborative efforts to build community resilience. The 2025 HKBN event involves various elements in a pentahelix approach to disaster management, namely the government, academics, the business world, communities, and the mediaβ€”including the active participation of the YAKKUM Emergency Unit (YEU).

Community Resilience ExhibitionΒ

In this activity, YEU participated in an exhibition showcasing various community innovations in improving resilience to disasters and climate change. The exhibition featured the MONTOV (Monitoring Kesehatan ODHIV) application from Pita Merah Jogja, one of the CLIP-IDEAKSI innovator groups. Additionally, there was an interactive game that visitors could play called Putpatcamat (Spin to Find Safety) from the CLIP-IDEAKSI innovator group PPDMS (Centre for Empowering Prosperous Partner Villages). This game aimed to educate children with disabilities. Lastly, YEU also showcased an adaptive climate agriculture model featuring a mist irrigation system developed by the Rukun Santoso Farmers' Group.Β

The innovations showcased at the YEU booth aim to advocate for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation through educational games. This is designed to demonstrate that disaster preparedness can be introduced in a creative and engaging way. Furthermore, these resilience efforts highlight that disaster preparedness is not only necessary when a disaster occurs, but also serves as a proactive measure to help minimise the greater impact of future disasters.

Joint Learning for Communities in Disaster Preparedness

During this HKBN event, YEU participated in a number of thematic discussion classes, namely the Responsive Class, the Agile Class, the Resilient Class, and the Empowered Class. These classes served as interactive learning spaces that discussed strategic topics, such as adapting to climate change in inclusive humanitarian responses, accelerating the implementation of Disaster-Safe Education Units (SPAB) in DIY as a concrete step towards resilience in the educational environment, protecting and involving at-risk groups in disaster management efforts, and the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration in society.Β

Talk Show on ResilienceΒ

To conclude the series of events, a number of YEU partners, namely the Unggul Jiwa Community Self-Help Group, the Lingkar Association, and FKWA (Winongo Asri Communication Forum), received awards at the peak of the HKBN 2025 event. These awards are a form of appreciation for their dedication and commitment to developing inclusive disaster risk reduction innovations. Through an approach rooted in local strengths and the active involvement of at-risk groups, these partners have become a concrete example of how joint efforts can significantly strengthen community resilience in the face of various disaster threats.
