Dialogue on Loss and Damage Due to Climate Change by Women's Group in Gunungkidul

For the first time at COP27, countries agreed to allocate funding to address loss and damage caused by climate change. However, the agreement requires follow-up and commitment from countries to design loss and damage funding, including who is obliged to contribute to loss and damage funding and who has the right to receive it.

The Huairou Commission, a global network of women's groups at the local level working on women's empowerment, developed research to support the "transitional committee" or team assigned in the COP27 to design loss and damage funding appropriately and effectively. With grassroots women's groups around the world, Huairou Commission supported by IIED (International Institute for Environment and Development) collects data and information on how climate change has caused damage and loss in various aspects of community’s life and reality.
