Homecare for Older people during Pandemic

Mr. Alimin, 65, was the first patient visited by the YEU’s Mobile Clinic team on May 16, 2020. Mr. Alimin was one of the homecare patients in Kelurahan Kayumalue Ngapa, Palu City, Central Sulawesi. When the team was about to get out of the car, Mr. Alimin was already sitting on his terrace to get an examination from the YEU mobile clinic's doctor. When doing the examination, the doctor uses protective equipment such as gloves, jackets, and masks. The doctor starts the examination by checking blood pressure and hearing of whats Mr. Alimin’s feelings about his health condition, after that the doctor gives the necessary drugs and vitamins in accordance with the results of the examination that has been conducted.

Mr. Alimin obtained information related to COVID-19 via radio. In the midst of this pandemic, Pak Alimin is taking anticipatory steps for self-protection, such as using masks, washing hands with soap, maintaining hygiene, and trying to stay at home. Information about COVID-19 that heard by Mr. Alimin on the radio, he tries to obey it.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Alimin usually doing farming, but with the current conditions the activities were carried out by his child. Some assistance that has been obtained by Mr. Alimin in this pandemic situation is basic food and mobile clinic services which according to Mr. Alimin is quite helpful. Previously, Mr. Alimin had never experienced the condition of a pandemic like this, which affect the community for not be able to gather and do the activity as usual. Mr. Alimin expressed his gratitude for the donations that have been given and thank you for the attention that has been given to the elderly.
